About the Artist
Jodie Riley
Kaya! I am a proud Ballardong and Wagyl Kaip Noongar yok with deep ties to Whadjuk Boodja.
Born in Narrogin and raised in Katanning, I am now a long-term resident of Wardandi Boodja in Bunbury. My heritage comes from my grandmother Muriel (Judy) Jackson and great-grandmother Barbara Jackson (née Hayward).
Through Koolbardi Design, I create and sell Indigenous artworks and products, undertaking commissions for private, corporate, and government clients. I’ve deliverer numerous canvas artworks, murals at Boorloo Bridge and Armadale Metronet, as well as digital artwork used for vehicle branding and custom workwear.
I also work as the Aboriginal Support Coordinator for the Southwest at the Greater Bunbury Engagement Centre and am an active member of the Southwest Aboriginal Women’s Collective, empowering Aboriginal women and fostering positive community change. In 2025, I had the honour of attending the United Nations Indigenous Permanent Forum in New York City, representing Aboriginal Australian women and advocating for equity in education.
